Our Med Student

So the whole reason we came to Yakima, WA is because Elisha got into Medical School. For the next 4 years he will be attending Pacific Northwest University. So far we really love it here and have met some really wonderful people.

Day 11-13

June 11-13

We had such a great time in Utah, it was beautiful. We were able to see Elisha's sister Tyrena and her beautiful family and were were able to see our great friends the Bobka's!!! We have missed them so much and it was great to see them. We hung out with them at Temple square and then they were kind enough to have us over for dinner, where we hung out just like old times plus a few extra kids! We were able to see them all 3 days, lunch outings and shopping fun! Wish we would have had more time.

Not sure what the white blob on the picture is.

Road Trip Day 9&10

June 9&10

We only had one day where we would be able to go to the mountain to see Mount Rushmore, so to hear that it was cloudy and not visible was really disappointing. We had been watching a live feed online of the mountain top and we could see the clouds constantly moving so we went and waited for the sky to clear up. We had been there for a half hour when we got our first glimpse and it was so exciting and then just minutes later it was perfectly clear and beautiful. This was fun to see and everyone had a great time!

So cloudy, at this point we were not sure that we would even see it.

Road Trip Day 7&8

June 7&8

It was truly amazing to see these historical sites. It was just a small glimpse into what the pioneers experienced. I am really glad that we were able to visit and be in some of the same places as them.

Far West- This is the location that Joseph Smith came when he left Liberty Jail. It is where he dedicated the Far West Temple, the cornerstones were built, but due to persecution the Saints had to leave before it was ever completed. The glass box you see is one of the cornerstones that has been preserved.

Carthage Jail

Nauvoo, IL

The actual Liberty Jail no longer exists, this is a replica of what it looked liked according to some journal entries. It is however built on the same land within the Visitors Center.
